Summary: | The article considers the key positions of distance education, the basis of which is e-learning. The prospects and effectiveness of this form of education in current conditions are determined. A parallel is made with the possibilities of its application as a platform for students’ independent work. Special attention is paid to the rapid development and increased demand for distance education based on e-learning. The last predetermines constant monitoring of the quality and content of this educational form. One of the promising areas in development of distance education in the form of e-learning is its development at the level of each educational institution (in particular, in the Moodle system). According to the results of our study, the latter should combine both the use of general best practices in this issue, and the development of their own methodology with the exchange of effective methods of e-learning between the educational institutions in the future. In our study, we have focused on the advantages and disadvantages of distance e-learning. In this context, a number of significant advantages of distance education based on e-learning have been identified including the accessibility, minimum resources needed, reflection of innovative educational challenges, ensuring productive independent work of students, compliance with the different age groups, compliance with their abilities and needs, variability of e-learning forms and types, flexible schedule and individual approach of the educational process, the possibility of improving teachers’ professional skills, interesting on-line forms of control. It is established that the main shortcoming of distance education include low feedback, lack of face-to-face interaction, need for high self-motivation, etc. |
